Skype: Your Personal Streaming Solution to Your Mobile
So Boing Boing, one of the real huge blogs on the ‘Net has an amazing post about something I don’t quite think Steve Jobs will be too happy about. It’s called DittyBot and it takes an email that you’ve sent to the BOT and triggers iTunes on a Mac to start playing the designated track after Skype has dialed your designated phone number.
But going beyond music tracks, imagine if you just have to hear your favorite podcast that has already been save in iTunes. Blending this with iPodderX which grabs the podcast files and plays it over your phone, even when you’re not in reach of your digital entertainment hub, which iTunes acts as the front door to.
This means that the concept ofQualcomm’s MediaFlo are being developed, using only a script and other people’s resources on the cheap. One has to wonder how much money went into those two venture versus DittyBot which does the same thing on the cheap.
So now take a closer look further down on the DittyBot page to see how it’s done, all using Automator and Applescript and some system audio redirects. Bet you can’t do this on a Windows PC!
